CM announces solatium for Nilgiri victims

Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi on Monday announced the payment of Rs. one lakh each to eight persons who died in landslips in the Nilgiris district, on account of heavy rain.

A senior official of the Revenue department said, according to information reaching Chennai on Monday morning, 13 persons died in the landslips in the Nilgiris district. Totally, 37 persons have lost their lives. Apart from 13 in the Nilgiris, two residents of Cuddalore and Ramanthapuram districts each died.

At the Secretariat, Chief Secretary, K.S. Sripathi, reviewed the status of relief works in rain-hit districts with the Collectors concerned through video-conferencing.
