Clock wrapped in cloth causes panic at station

August 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:21 am IST - Bengaluru:

Commuters at Magadi Road Metro Station had a scare when 30 policemen, including the bomb detection and disposal squad, cordoned off a dustbin on a platform at 11.30 am.

The housekeeping staff had found a sealed cloth packet that made a ticking sound. The metro staff immediately alerted the station controller who in turn called the police control room. The Deputy Commissioner of Police and other senior officials reached the spot along with the bomb detection squad. On examination, they found that the packet was a guitar-shaped clock wrapped in a table cloth. A senior police officer said, “It was packaged to make it look like it was a bomb.” The police are examining CCTV footage to find the person responsible.
