A 16-year-old boy was arrested for trying to stab his teacher in Tirupattur on Sunday. The teacher, Babu, escaped with minor injury on his left hand as he tried to protect himself from being stabbed.
According to police, the boy, a resident of Tirupattur, was studying in class XI at a private school. Babu (52), a resident of Thendral Nagar, was teaching Chemistry in the school.
During the half-yearly examination, Babu had caught the boy while copying in the chemistry examination. He had threatened him saying that he would be failed.
Babu was taking tuition classes at his residence for students, and the boy was also attending the tuition.
At 6.30 a.m. on Sunday, the boy had gone for tuition and waited near the teacher’s house. Babu was returning from a temple when the teenager tried to stab him using a knife that he had kept hidden in his bag. The teacher sustained injury on his left hand when he tried to protect himself from being stabbed, police said.
Following this, he lodged a complaint with the Tirupattur Town police. Police have arrested the teenager and lodged him in juvenile home.
