Clarification

With reference to a report published on April 2 under the headline “OPS files civil suit against Tamil dailies”, an advocate representing Kal Publications Private Limited has written to The Hindu stating that the Maran brothers are not promoters of the company and that Mr. Dayanidhi Maran has nothing to do with the private limited company, or the Sun Group of companies as was mentioned, and that there is no such reference made in the suit.

Our Reporter explains:

The part of the report that the lawyer has taken objection to is from an order delivered by Justice K.K. Sasidharan of the Madras High Court on March 30 wherein the statement relating to Kal Publications and so on was attributed to the applicant, Mr O. Panneerselvam; it was not made by the applicant in his petition.
