A biography on music director A.R. Rahman will be released in August and take readers through his journey from his early days as a composer of ad jingles to his foray into films and subsequent presence in the world music.

The authorised biography, Notes of a Dream , which will be published by Penguin Random House India, is being penned by Chennai- based author Krishna Trilok.

Mr. Trilok had earlier published a fantasy novel, Sharikrida . The foreword to the book has been written by Danny Boyle, who directed Slumdog Millionaire , for which the composer had scored the music and won two Academy awards.

In a statement released by the publisher, Mr. Trilok said it was his honour to share the life story of one of the country’s biggest stars, which was inspiring proof of the power of love, talent and hard work.
