Citizens seek details of public properties

March 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - Bengaluru:

Demanding details of all public properties in the city, several citizens staged a protest at the BBMP head office on Tuesday.

Members of the Anti Land Grabbing Action Committee, along with freedom fighter H.S. Doreswamy and chairperson of the Joint Legislature Committee that probed encroachments A.T. Ramaswamy, sought all details of BBMP properties, their worth, those that have been encroached and action initiated against encroachers.

Mr. Ramaswamy said that though the committee had sought details on public properties around five months ago, BBMP officials are not forthcoming with any information.

Mr. Lakshminarayan met the protestors and assured them of providing the details that they sought.

He said that the BBMP had a list of properties, and also of encroachments.

“Some cases are pending in the High Court and we will not be able to furnish details until the cases are settled. Some of these cases include those wherein public properties have been usurped by creating fake documents,” he added.
