Demanding the immediate removal of encroachments on a temple land, a group of children, dressed like nymphs, submitted a petition to the office of the Collector here on Thursday.

Led by R. Ganesan of Kurichi, the children submitted the petition that stated that a part of the land belonging to Sri Chokkanathar Temple at Kurichi had been encroached upon by a group of persons. Though several petitions had already been forwarded to the officials concerned, no action was taken against the encroachers.

Hence, the Collector should initiate action against this unlawful activity and liberate the encroached upon temple property, the children said.
