The Chief Secretaries of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu will meet soon to discuss the proposal for a 345 MW hydroelectric project at Shivanasamudram by Karnataka and a drinking water project taken up at Hogenakkal by Tamil Nadu. This was disclosed by Karnataka Home Minister V.S. Acharya here on Wednesday while speaking to reporters. He said the official-level talks would pave the way for ministerial-level discussions on resolving the boundary dispute and the Hogennakal issue.

The government was hoping to cement the ties between the States by resolving the dispute over the implementation of a drinking water project at Hogenakkal through dialogue.

“After the official-level talks, we want to take a delegation to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to resolve these issues.”

Dr. Acharya said the Karnataka government was also keen to discuss the proposal to set up the hydroelectric project at Shivanasamudram.
