April 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - TIRUNELVELI:

A court here has dismissed the bail petition of M. Senthil, Chief Engineer, Department of Agricultural Engineering, who has been arrested and lodged in Palayamkottai Central Prison along with former Minister ‘Agri’ S.S. Krishnamoorthy in the case pertaining to the suicide of Agricultural Engineering Department’s Executive Engineer S. Muthukumarasamy.

The petitioner’s counsel said Mr. Senthil, who had put in 32 years of service in the department, was suffering from trauma ever since he was arrested on April 4 and subsequently lodged in the prison the next day. As he was not in good health in the prison, he may be granted jail.

Objecting to it, Public Prosecutor Sivalinga Muthu submitted the official’s health record and said the latest screening done by the doctors in the prison showed that Mr. Senthil was healthy.
