Chendur Pandian sworn in Minister

P. Chendur Pandian was on Monday sworn in Minister. At a brief function at the Raj Bhavan, Governor Surjit Singh Barnala administered the oath of office and allegiance and oath of secrecy to the 60-year-old Mr. Pandian, who has been given charge of Khadi and Village Industries Board, Bhoodan and Gramdhan.

In the Assembly elections, Mr. Pandian was elected from the Kadayanallur constituency, defeating Congress leader S. Peter Alphonse by a margin of 16,086 votes.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and Assembly Speaker D. Jayakumar were among those present at the function.
