Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Economic Offences-1 on Wednesday framed charges against jailed AIADMK (Amma) general secretary V.K. Sasikala and her nephew V.Bhaskaran in one of the three FERA cases filed by Enforcement Directorate two decades ago for transaction of foreign currency through unauthorised channels for procuring equipment and hiring transponders for JJTV.

Sasikala, the second accused in the case, appeared through video conferencing from Parapana Agrahara prison where she is serving punishment for amassing wealth disproportionate to her income. Her nephew V. Baskaran appeared in person.

Judge A. Zakir Hussain read out charges against them and sought their response from accused side. To most of the questions, Sasikala answered in negative. Sasikala wore prison uniform and appeared thin.
