The Centre is in regular touch with Tamil Nadu government to solve the stalemate at the Kudankulam nuclear power plant, Union Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office V. Narayanasamy said here on Sunday. Addressing a press conference here, he said top scientists are pursuing the issues with the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary and in a short period, will decide on the next course of action to be followed in ending the impasse. “The Centre and State government are taking all steps to allay the safety fears of the local population. We are getting full cooperation from Tamil Nadu government,” he said
The commissioning of the plant would help resolve the power shortage faced by Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to a large extent, he said.
On the political situation in Puducherry, he said after a Minister from the ruling N R Congress met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi recently some vested interests are trying to give political significance to the meeting. “The fact of the matter is that there is nothing political in it. Even BJP leaders meet Ms Gandhi.”
Contrary to what is made out, he said Ms Gandhi gave direction to Opposition leader V. Vaithilingam and PCC chief A. V Subramanian to strengthen the party when they called on her.
