Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Gurudas Dasgupta on Sunday accused the Union government of mounting an attack on people by pursuing policies of liberalisation, privatisation and outsourcing and placing the country in the hands of corporates.

The Central government had no concern for human distress and was not taking steps for ameliorating the grievances of the common man, said Mr. Dasgupta, while inaugurating the 22 conference of the Tamil Nadu Bank Employees Federation here.

Mr. Dasgupta called upon trade unions to be prepared for a long-drawn struggle against corporate aggression, evils of reckless capitalism, liberalisation and privatisation.

He noted that the existing scenario was grim in the country.
