Census enumeration begins in Tamil Nadu

The second phase of Census 2011 began in Tamil Nadu today with around 1.5 lakh personnel involved in the exercise.

Governor Surjit Singh Barnala gave his family details at Raj Bhavan in the presence of S Gopalakrishnan, Director, Census Operations, Tamil Nadu and D Karthikeyan, Chennai Corporartion Commissioner, an official release here said.

This time, officials will seek 29 details including name, age, sex, and physical disability of the members which would remain confidential.

The massive exercise will go on till February 28 and enumeration of the homeless and those residing on road-sides will be done after that.
