The Crime Branch CID, which investigated land acquisition compensation claims following the directions of the Madras High Court in 2007, has submitted its report to the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB).

A release recalled that the court had directed the agency to investigate complaints of irregularities in claiming and awarding enhancement of compensation towards lands acquired by the TNHB.

As many as 1,740 claims for enhancement of compensation pending in 12 districts across the State were taken up for verification.

A special team, comprising 12 Inspectors, conducted the investigation and submitted the comprehensive report to the Managing Director, TNHB, for further action.

The claimants concerned could approach the land acquisition offices to ascertain the status of their claims, the release said.
