A day after Union Chemicals and Fertilizer Minister >Ananth Kumar said there was no proposal to set up the Cauvery Management Board, DMK chief M. Karunanidhi on Sunday urged the Tamil Nadu government to call an all-party meeting over the issue.

“It is very very necessary that Jayalalithaa calls for an all-party meeting over setting up the Cauvery Management Board, at a time when the future of kuruvai (short-term) crops has a question mark,” Mr. Karunanidhi said in a statement.

He also referred to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s statement that he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 10 along with a delegation drawn from all parties in the state.

Ms. Jayalalithaa had strongly pitched for the Cauvery Management Board during her meeting with Mr. Modi last week, but Mr. >Siddaramaiah had opposed it .
