If implemented, the proposal to include caste details in the Census 2011 will be disastrous for the nation, Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy has said.
“The consequences will be as disastrous as the British Imperialist proposal in 1932 for a separate electorate for Scheduled Castes. The 1932 proposal was shot down under pressure from Gandhiji's fast and the sagacity of B.R. Ambedkar,” Dr. Swamy said in a press release.
