Cases settled in Lok Adalats in districts

A total of 154 cases were settled and a sum of Rs. 4.02 crore was disbursed during the National Lok Adalat held on the district court premises here on Saturday.

The Lok Adalat was organised by the Namakkal District Legal Services Authority. S. Ramathilagam, Principal District Judge, presided over the Lok Adalat, in which N. Pari, Sub-Judge, Gnanabalakrishnan, Additional District Munsif, and Tiruchitrambalam and Sanjeevi, former judges, participated. A total of 660 cases involving motor vehicle accidents and property disputes were taken up, of which 116 accident cases and seven property disputes were settled for Rs. 3.62 crore.

Of the 485 bank cases, 31 cases were settled for Rs. 39.83 lakh, according to a statement from District Legal Services Authority.

In Salem, a total of 153 cases were settled for Rs. 4.08 crore at the adalat.

The adalat was held on the direction of N. Seshayee, Principal District Judge. A total of 2,455 cases were taken up, of which 153 were settled, a press release said.
