The Palayamkottai police have registered a case against former Minister and State vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Nainar Nagenthran and five others for their alleged hate speech at a protest organised here recently.

When a demonstration was organised at Jawahar Grounds here on Wednesday by the Andal Bhaktha Sabha, Mr. Nagenthran’s “inciting” speech rocked the protest.

In the agitation, he wanted to know the action taken by the police against Mr. Vairamuthu for his allegedly disparaging comments on Andal.

“The police, which would have registered a case against me if I had offered ₹10 lakh for slicing Vairamuthu’s tongue, have done nothing so far legally against him. Should he [Mr. Vairamuthu], who has spoken against the Hindus and their beliefs, be murdered or not?” he asked, even as the participants of the demonstration responded vociferously: “He should be murdered brutally.”

Based on a complaint from Sub-Inspector of Police, Palayamkottai, Vimalan, the police registered a case against Mr. Nagenthran.
