May 12, 2011 12:07 am | Updated 12:07 am IST - CHENNAI:

The City Public Prosecutor on Wednesday filed a complaint in the court of the Principal Judge, Chennai, seeking to punish the Editor and Publisher of a Tamil daily for allegedly defaming Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

In his petition, the prosecutor stated that the Dr. Namadhu MGR, in its edition dated May 3, had alleged that Jaffar Sait, who was heading the State intelligence and had been transferred, had a consultation with the Chief Minister and, based on his advice, money was distributed using police vehicles and ‘108' ambulances.

The complainant said that the allegation was false and baseless and made with an intention to defame the Chief Minister.
