The Railway Protection Force has booked 27 people for creating nuisance in the railway stations and in running trains on Tuesday.

The RPF teams conducted surprise checks in Salem Railway Junction, and Attur and Morappur railway stations and booked 13 people for selling without proper permission, two for crossing the track, five for parking the vehicles in no-parking areas, and seven for causing nuisance to the travelling public.

They were produced before the Railway Court, which slapped a fine of Rs. 17,750 on them.

Four held

The police on Wednesday arrested four persons on the charge of selling pirated CDs. On a tip off, the police conducted surprise checks at Shevvaipet, Suramangalam, and Annathanapatti. A lot of pirated CDs were seized from them.

Tractors impounded

SALEM:The revenue officials seized two tractors for illegally lifting clay at Vellalapuram lake near Konganapuram on Tuesday. On a tip off, the revenue inspector and the VAO of Konganapuram conducted surprise check in the area.
