Carnatic music festival held

The 12th edition of the annual carnatic music festival organised by the Shanmukananda Sangeetha Sabha began at Velayudhasamy Kalayana Mandapam on the eve of Pongal. Vocalist N. Vijay Siva performed on the first day. On the Pongal day, Madurai T.N.S. Krishna kept the audience spellbound with a scintillating performance. On Friday, the organisers gave a treat of fusion music with S. Karthick on ghatam.

“The festival will come to a close on Sunday with a performance by Padmabhushan Umayalpuram Sivaraman”, said Dhananjayan Subramanian, treasurer of Shanmukananda Sangeetha Sabha.
