In an attempt to create awareness on protecting the country’s national animal, highlight the decline in use of a once-vital medium of communication, and at the same time mark the Earth Day, celebrated on April 22, the Camford International School here on Monday attempted to create the world largest postcard mosaic of the Royal Bengal Tiger.
In an effort that lasted for over six hours, the schoolchildren, 27 boys and 33 girls, created the image of the tiger spanning across 4,880 sq.ft. from 35,000 postcards of vivid colourful pictures of monuments, flora and fauna, collected in the past couple of months by the students of grade VII, VIII and IX.
The school had recorded this initiative and sent it to the Guinness Book of World Records for certification as the world largest postcard mosaic. School correspondent Poongothai Arul Ramesh, said that while the school had the idea of making an attempt for world record, the theme ‘Save Tiger’ came from the students.
