BSF personnel arrive for poll duty in Salem

A total of ten companies of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel arrived here by train for election duty in the 11 Assembly constituencies in Salem district.

While eight companies will be posted in the eight Assembly constituencies in the Salem District Police Limits, the rest two companies will be deployed in the three city constituencies covered by the city police.

Eight companies of BSF personnel arrived at Salem Railway Junction by a special train from Chennai, and the rest two companies arrived at Erode Junction by another train.

Police sources said that the eight companies of BSF personnel meant for the Salem District Police were immediately sent to different Assembly constituencies, where they will stay till the elections are over. In Erode, about 600 para-military personnel arrived today for election duty in the district.

The personnel belonging to Assam have been posted to Erode after their completion of election security work in West Bengal. In the coming days, they will be apportioned to the eight Assembly segments, sources said.
