A parcel containing chemicals used in fire crackers created a flutter among the staff at the Bharatiya Janata Party State headquarters on Vaidyaraman Street in T. Nagar on Friday.

On information, the police rushed to the building and recovered the parcel sent through post. The parcel contained chemicals used in fire crackers with fuse attached. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad inspected the spot and a sniffer dog checked the premises.

Police interrogated a person who lives on the same street and suspect that he might have sent it done the mischief to trap another person with whom he has a civil dispute.

On Wednesday, BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan claimed that a ‘postal bomb’ was sent to her by an anonymous person. The postal cover was received by the staff at her residence in Virugambakkam. That cover also contained chemicals used in crackers attached to a fuse.
