The proposal of Tourism Department for creating a boat house in Avalpoondurai tank is at tender stage, it is learnt.
The tank will feature a counter, a shed, and an approach road after completion of the work for which Rs. 1.72 crore has been earmarked, according to R.N. Kittusamy, MLA.
Scope for replicating the model of butterfly park in Srirangam will be explored on the tank area that has a spread of 200 acres, Mr.
Kittusamy said. While the boating could be confined to 100 acres, the rest of the tank bed at elevated level would be landscaped. The tank would be developed on the lines of the Sadayampalayam tank near Rangampalayam in the city limits, he said.
