The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party will exert pressure on the Central government not to give permission to Karnataka for constructing reservoirs across the Cauvery at Mekedatu, State unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan told reporters here on Saturday.

It was a livelihood issue of farmers of Tamil Nadu, she said, adding that the BJP would extend support to the bandh called by a few farmers’ associations in delta districts. It would also organise a movement against the proposed plan.
