The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Vellore east district unit on Monday staged a demonstration condemning suspended Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The party condemned Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalavan for his alleged statement that all Hindu temples should be demolished, and Buddhist shrines should be built in their place.
The demonstration was led by C.P. Radhakrishnan, the party’s national council member. It was organised with the party’s Schedule Caste wing and women’s wing. Mr. Radhakrishnan condemned Mr. Aiyar for his remarks against Mr. Modi.
On Mr. Thirumavalavan’s alleged statement that many Hindu temples were built on Buddhist shrines, he said the BJP was ready for a debate on this topic.
