Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said on Wednesday that the party under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be able to replicate in Tamil Nadu its victory in the Haryana and Maharastra Assembly polls.
“Wherever we went to the election under the leadership of Mr. Modi, we won as people wanted a change. Tamil Nadu will not lag behind, and Mr. Modi will play a critical role in the Tamil Nadu elections,” he told reporters.
Mr. Rudy, who is in charge of the party affairs in Tamil Nadu, said the three per cent vote of the BJP in the State was not stagnant.
Asked about the prospects of the BJP, especially when AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa was disqualified and the DMK was facing corruption charges, he said people of the State were disillusioned with family and hate politics.
He dismissed as unfounded the allegation that Hindi was imposed on non-Hindi-speaking States whenever the BJP came to power.
