Farmers happy with changes: Tamilisai

The PMK and the BJP on Monday invoked farmers to respectively reject and welcome the new rules by the central government on the sale of cattle.

PMK’s Youth Wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss opposed the move. “In times of need, what does a farmer do for money? He sells his cattle. Hence, this is a bad move. It should be taken away. It will cost us in terms of exports too. There is also a religious angle to this. As the Chief Minister of Kerala has said, ‘Today, they ask us to stop eating beef. Tomorrow, they will oppose the consumption of fish,”’ he told reporters in Thiruvallur district.

BJP’s State unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan defended the new rules, saying farmers were happy with them.

“The Opposition is acting with no humanitarian consideration. The party in power has humanitarian considerations in mind,” she added.
