The Bharatiya Janata Party maintains a stoic silence on accepting the offer of support from M.K. Alagiri, estranged son of DMK chief M. Karunanidhi.
There were reports that the former Union Minister, who claims considerable influence in seven Lok Sabha constituencies in southern Tamil Nadu, had met BJP president Rajnath Singh recently. But there was no word from the party on the meeting.
Mr. Alagiri, who has been suspended from the DMK, also met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday.
