The BJP is likely to announce its alliance for Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, according to its State general secretary Vanathi Srinivasan.

Status message

On Tuesday, she posted a status message on Facebook stating that BJP Tamil Nadu president Pon. Radhakrishnan would announce the electoral pact at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon. Senior leader L.Ganesan also confirmed that the party will announce its alliance on Wednesday.

However, DMDK sources said that they had not given any commitment to the BJP till Tuesday evening. The talks were progressing and issues in seat-sharing remained.

“Top leaders, including party president Vijayakant, were holding parleys with BJP leaders in Chennai on Tuesday. The talks are continuing. There are still issues in identification of constituencies as DMDK, BJP and PMK are vying for same seats,” said a senior leader and party MLA.

Sources in the PMK also said that they had not been informed about any formal announcement from the BJP side.
