BJP leader’s comments against Vaiko draw flak

January 02, 2015 03:23 pm | Updated April 04, 2016 06:37 pm IST - CUDDALORE:

Founder of the Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) T. Velmurugan has voiced his objection to the comments made by H.Raja, national secretary of BJP, against Vaiko, leader of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

In a statement released here Mr. Velmurugan stated that Mr. Raja had advised Mr. Vaiko to exercise restraint in criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Mr Raja had also gone on record stating that if Mr. Vaiko failed to check his language against these two national leaders the BJP cadre would teach him how to do so.

Mr Velmurugan pointed out that Mr Raja was accustomed to making uncharitable remarks against leaders and therefore his comments against Mr Vaiko were tantamount to devil quoting scriptures.

Mr. Velmurugan pointed out that for the past five decades Mr. Vaiko was fighting for the rights of Tamils.

He categorically said that if Mr. Raja did not mend his ways he would have to face protests from the TVK cadres and other Tamil organisations.
