The Bharatiya Janata Party is into the process of galvanising party functionaries in each of the 234 Assembly constituencies to face elections, its State president Tamilisai Soundararajan said on Thursday.
The party has already conducted its orientations to party functionaries and cadres in 50 constituencies, Ms. Soundararajan told mediapersons during the course of a meeting of party functionaries from 12 districts in and around the Western region.
Public meetings
Informing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party national president Amit Shah will address public meetings in Tamil Nadu after the Bihar elections, she expressed certainty that parties allying with BJP will be in the winning combination.
The party, she said, was currently working on the election manifesto by analysing the problems faced by the public in each constituency. The activity will be carried out for a month, she said.
Corruption
Ms. Soundararajan flayed the State Government, saying corruption has percolated deep into every department. The Central Government’s financial support to power utilities will be of immense benefit to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, which she said was struggling with huge debts.
Besides Ms. Soundararajan, senior leaders Muralidhar Rao, All India General Secretary; H. Raja, All India Secretary; and Vanathi Srinivasan, State vice-president, also addressed the partymen.
At a sitting of the party’s Election Manifesto Committee, A. Saravanan, president of party’s State Propaganda Cell; Santhosh, Saha Prabari, and Kanagasabai, retired Professor, joined them in discussing the course of action for readying the manifesto.
