It was unfortunate that Ms. Jayalalithaa did not take part in the Chief Ministers’ conference in New Delhi. It was an opportunity for her to meet and discuss with Chief Ministers of neighbouring States to settle inter-State disputes, she added.

The existing water sources were insufficient to meet the growing drinking water needs in the town owing to sharp increase in the arrival of tourists to the hill station and rapid development of town, she added.
Lack of basic amenities and infrastructure had been haunting Dalit colony at Vilpatti panchayat. With no toilet facilities, rural women were forced to answer nature’s call in the open. Steps would be taken to help those poor people build a toilet under the Centre’s schemes.
If the State government conducted free and fair election for local bodies, the BJP would emerge as a formidable force in the State, she pointed out.
