Bird count to be conducted from February 13 to 16 in Salem

February 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - SALEM:

Nature lovers and bird enthusiasts can participate in annual bird counting event, the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) that will take place across the globe from February 13 to 16.

People can count birds on one or more days for at least 15 minutes, in backyard, at a local park or wherever they like to watch birds. First time participants should create a new eBird account at www.ebird.org to enter their bird observations and can also use BirdLog Asia app to submit the lists.

The Great Backyard Bird Count will help to answer some critical questions such as how the climate change influences bird populations and what kinds of differences in bird diversity are apparent in cities versus suburban, rural, and natural areas, organisers said. Schools, colleges, corporate companies or any sort of institution with the thought to save nature can participate in the count that will provide details of bird populations inside their campus.
