A bi-lingual website on the A(H1N1) Influenza was inaugurated on Thursday by Health Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam.

A co-ordinated effort by the State's health and IT departments, the website www.swineflutninfo.in, provides valuable information about the A(H1N1) influenza for medical professionals and members of the public. It also has an interactive section through which browsers can clarify their doubts about the condition.

IT secretary P.W.C. Davidar said the site will provide daily updates on the A(H1N1) situation in Tamil Nadu through collaboration with the Public Health Directorate. The site automatically downloads in Tamil (downloadable link for Tamil font is provided), but can be viewed in English also.

Information on the epidemiology, mode of transmission, signs and symptoms, case management protocol, and self care tips are included. In addition, there is a detailed list of the laboratories authorised to test, and links to other sites providing information on the condition.

The site was developed by Kavitha Rajan of Mastermind Solutions, Coimbatore.
