The State government has increased various benefits for ex-servicemen and their dependents given through the Sainik Welfare Department with effect from April 1 this year. According to a release issued by the Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan, the marriage assistance has been enhanced to Rs.20,000 from Rs. 10,000.
The monthly assistance for those who took part participated in the Second World War has been increased to Rs. 4000 from Rs. 3,000. Similarly assistance to the war widows of Second World War veterans has been increased to Rs. 2500 from Rs. 2000. The assistance to inmates of leprosy, tuberculosis sanatoria and paraplegic centres has also been increased to Rs. 1500 from Rs. 1000.
The assistance for spectacles extended to the spouse of ex-servicemen, monthly assistance for children affected with leprosy, cancer and TB revised as Rs. 1500 per month, monthly maintenance allowance of Rs. 1500 to the spouses of ex-servicemen and their widows, wheel chairs to the differently-abled persons related to ex-servicemen, Rs. 1500 monthly assistance to the differently abled persons affected with particular disease and prize money extended to the second topper of the wards of ex-servicemen in Plus Two examinations, the release added.
