DINDIGUL

A colony of bees attacked 210 people of Nallampatti village near here when they took out a ‘sprout pots’ procession to a nearby well on Sunday evening.

Dindigul (East) Tahsildar A. Karpagam said the villagers, who were celebrating a function at Sri Kaliamman Temple, took out the procession to the well. “Someone disturbed a beehive on the way and a colony of bees started attacking the processionists,” she said.

The district administration provided a State-run bus for transporting the victims to Dindigul Government Hospital. Four aged persons, who had been the worst-affected, were admitted to the hospital and the others were treated as outpatients.
