A six-month-old Barn Owl, which sustained minor injuries, was rescued by volunteers of Nature Society of Tirupur from the campus of a matriculation school at Gandhi Nagar here on Friday afternoon.
K. Ravindran, secretary of the society, said that the owl looked to have chased by crows had fallen on the school premises and was lying there without making any attempt to fly again since being nocturnal bird. “Barn Owls are actually farmers’ friends as they eat rats from the agriculture fields,” he explained. The owl was later released at the Kalampalayam area where lots of farms were located.
