Awareness rally on drinking water and sanitation

About 700 school students from E.V.R.N. Government Girls Higher Secondary School, St. Mary’s Girls Higher Secondary School and Voorhees Higher Secondary School participated in an awareness rally on drinking water and sanitation organised by Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board here on Tuesday.

R. Nanthagopal, Collector of Vellore flagged off the rally. It began from the Gandhi statue, passed through Makkan and reached the New Bus Stand. The students carried placards and raised slogans such as `Thekkuveer Mazhaineer, Padhugappeer Kudineer’ (Store Rain Water and Save Drinking Water), and `Uyir Vaazha Kudineer, Noyinri Vaazha Nalla Thanneer’ (Water for Life, and Potable Water for Living Without Disease).

P. Karthiyayini, Mayor of Vellore, Janaki Raveendran, Commissioner of Vellore Corporation, Richard Stanley, Thanga Jayaraman and Ilangovan, Administrative Engineers of the Rural Water Supply Scheme, TWAD Board and Balasubramaniyam, Executive Engineer, Vellore Corporation participated.
