An awareness programme on International Trade for Exporters was conducted jointly by the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), and the Salem Productivity Council (SPC) here on Tuesday.
V. Karthikeyan vice-president, Salem Productivity Council, said that opportunity for exporters in Salem was available in plenty, and asked them to use it.
S. Sivaraman, an export consultant, made presentations on establishing a firm, and explained the various procedures to be followed in exports. He listed out the various supporting organisations and accredited agencies such as Food Safety Standards Authority of India for approval of products to be exported.
Santhi, Director, FIEO, explained the various activities of FIEO and EPCS in support of exporters.
S. Thangavel, Assistant Commissioner, Customs and Central Exercise, Salem made a presentation explaining Customs and Central Exercise Rules and procedures for Exports.
Krishnasamy, Assistant General Manager, State Bank of India explained the credit support schemes before shipment and after shipment. Sundararajan, Assistant Manager Export Credit and Guarantee Corporation, Salem explained the schemes of support and protection to exporters by way of credit and insurance.
T.K. Velusamy, Chief Industrial Engineer, Salem Productivity Council proposed a vote of thanks. Earlier, silence was observed to pay respect to the former President APJ. Abdul Kalam.
