Makkal Sinthanai Peravai has introduced G.D. Naidu Award this year for the best scientific research, in connection with its annual Erode Book Exhibition.
Participating scientists, below 40 years of age, must have won acclaim for their invention to take part in the State-level competition.
The findings should have been arrived at in university/ college laboratories or recognised research labs.
Applicants are required to send the abstracts of their research work and articles published in refereed journals. A panel of five scientists of repute will decide the winner who will be entitled to Rs. 1 lakh cash award and a medal of appreciation.
The prize has been sponsored by Singapore Mustafa Tamil Trust, founded by M.A. Mohammed Mustafa.
The winner will be honoured on the final day of Erode Book Festival on August 16 by ISRO Director Mayilsamy Annadurai.
Encouraging youngsters to take up research is the objective of introducing the award as part of Erode Book Festival, according to founder of Makkal Sinthanai Peravai Stalin Gunasekaran.
