Two autorickshaw drivers who went for a swim in the Narayanapuram lake near Pallikaranai on Wednesday drowned. Police recovered the bodies on Thursday.
Pallikaranai police identified the deceased as Krishnan (35) of Amman Koil Street in Kotturpuram and Balaji Singh (27) of Surya Nagar in Kotturpuram. The two men, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, jumped into the lake after parking the autorickshaw they came in along the bank.
On Thursday morning, passers-by spotted two bodies in the lake and alerted the police.
