Assistant Agriculture Officer commits suicide

Wife says he was under tremendous pressure from his higher-ups

An Assistant Agriculture Officer committed suicide in his house at Kottaram near Kanniyakumari on Wednesday night.

Police said Amudhan (35), Assistant Agriculture Officer of Kurunthancode, who was living at Kottaram, committed suicide by hanging in his house on Wednesday night when his wife Philo was in another room with the children.

During investigation, Ms. Philo reportedly told the police that Amudhan was under tremendous pressure from his higher-ups and had a heated argument with someone over the phone before taking the extreme step.

Kanniyakumari police have registered a case.
