Flying squad personnel seized unaccounted cash amounting to Rs.2,73,500 from the occupants of a car on its way to Pudukottai at a check post on the banks of the Vellar on the outskirts of the town on Sunday.
The checks are being conducted in the run-up to the by-election to the Pudukottai Assembly constituency scheduled for June 12.
Proceeding to Karaikudi
Murugesa Prabhu of Kovilparai village in Theni district was proceeding from Karaikudi when the flying squad personnel intercepted the vehicle. The cash has been deposited in the treasury.
