In the wake of erratic drinking water supply at the Government Hospital here, in-patients are forced to fetch it from a pumping station nearby.

In the scorching heat of the summer, a time when patients and their attendants are in dire need of water, face this hardship. Even sick people and those with injuries stand in queue at the pumping station to collect water in bottles.

Hospital sources said that the problem was being felt for the past two days and it was brought to the attention of Corporation authorities.

Like deep borewells sunk in the vicinity of the new block, additional wells should be sunk in the old block. At times such as this, this source could be an alternative, soruces said.

Corporation sources said that water supply was suspended owing to shifting of pipe lines by the National Highway authorities. The task is over now and patients in the hospital could access water. Even water supply by tanker lorries could not be served since infrastructure works underway at the main entrance of the hospital did not pave way, sources added.
