The Centre is considering Tamil Nadu's demand for 100 per cent allocation of electricity generated by the two 1,000 MW units at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project.
Minister of State in PMO V. Narayansamy told the Lok Sabha that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard.
“It is under the consideration of the Prime Minister,” Mr. Narayanasamy said during question hour.
T.R. Baalu (DMK) said Tamil Nadu was reeling under severe power cuts and sought to know from the Centre whether it would allocate 100 per cent power generated from Kudankulkam to the electricity–starved State.
“The member is right in saying that Tamil Nadu is starved of electricity. It is a fact. The member also raised the question whether the electricity generated will be utilised for Tamil Nadu. In this connection, Ms. Jayalalithaa had written a letter to the Prime Minister,” Mr. Narayanasamy said.
Currently, Tamil Nadu is expected to get 925 MW power from the two 1000 MW units. The first unit is expected to be commissioned some time next month.
The second unit is expected to start generating power a couple of months after the first unit.

It is only a few days ago,Mr.Narayanswamy,MOS in PM's Office announced with authority that the most reasonable request of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for allocation of the entire power generated from the Koodankulam Nuclear Plant to Tamilnadu can not be conceded quoting Central Government's commitment to distribute electricity to other states like Andhra,Kerala and Karnataka.Today, the same Narayanswamy announces that the claim made by our CM is under consideration of the Prime Minister!Right from the day he assumed charge as an MOS, we find him to be consistently inconsistent in his utterances and many of his announcements relating to the agitating poor people in and around Koodankulam and PMANE engaged in their crusade against the commissioning of the plant besides some of the NGO bear witness to this.
It is time the Minister made statements only after ascertaining the veracity and facts of the case or the PMO substituted him with another right person to handle such sensitive issues.
it will be good, if 100% of electricity generated given to Tamil Nadu (I too belong to this state). If total allocated to TN, Central govt should get its share of funds which they have invested.. cos i dont want that, our fellow citizens (of other states)'s money to be used for TN only... If it was about to shared among the states., then no issue..
