The Thanjavur police arrested S. Venkatesh, son of Sundaravadanam, elder brother of Sasikala, in Chennai in connection with a land grabbing case on Tuesday.
Police here said that Dr. Venkatesh is being brought to Thanjavur for being produced before the court of the Judicial Magistrate-II.
The police said Venkatesh was arrested based on a complaint by Viswanathan, a neighbour of Venkatesh, at Melavasthachavadi Gandhinagar near Thanjavur town. Though Visvanathan gave the complaint a year ago to the Tamil University police station, Dr. Venkatesh has been arrested only now.
Venkatesh was formerly state secretary of the AIADMK's youth forums, the Ilaignar and Ilam Pengal Pasarai.
He was removed from that post later.
Mr. Sundaravadanam, elder brother of Sasikala, was a bank employee and is residing in Thanjavur town.
