Manavalakurichi police have arrested an army solider following the alleged suicide of his wife.
Police said army jawan Madhan (30) of Tharuvai under Manavalakurichi police station limits married Anita (26) of the same area three years ago and the couple have an 18-month-old baby boy. Madhan had come to his native place on leave recently. Anita allegedly hanged herself in her house when Madhan had gone out of the house.
After the body was sent to Government Medical College Hospital at Aasaripallam for post-mortem, the victim’s sister, Kavitha, filed a complaint with the police, alleging Madhan and his family members of harassing Anita demanding more dowry. Even as Nagercoil Revenue Divisional Officer Rajkumar was conducting an enquiry in this connection, the police questioned Madhan and his family members, and arrested the jawan on Thursday.
